Herman August "Bud" Kuplen Obituary
Herman August 'Bud' Kuplen, 82, of Foxtown, passed away from a short illness on February 8, 2014 at 7:45 a.m. at his residence.
Bud was born January 18, 1932 at Foxtown to Herman 'Nip' and Louanna (Wheeler) Kuplen.
Bud graduated from Arma High School in 1949, where he played basketball and football. He was later in the Navy Reserves.
He married Barbara Alene Wright of Fort Scott in 1952, she survives of the home.
He was employed at the Kansas City Southern Railway for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was also a lifetime farmer until his death. Bud was also part of the School House Disco, Rocking K Saloon, and the Rockin' K Steak and Rib. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and foreign countries over his retirement.
Additional survivors include a son, Steve Kuplen and his wife, Mindy of Foxtown; two daughters, Kristy Mjelde and her husband, Randy of Foxtown and Kerry Ashbacher of Foxtown; along with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters; Hallie Lowe, Nitchie Dubray and Genevieve Turlot.
At his request, he was cremated and no services are planned. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital or Angel Among Us. They may be left or mailed at Bedene Funeral Home, 517 East Washington Arma, Kansas 66712. Arrangements are under the direction of Bedene Funeral Home, Arma, KS.
