Marvellee (Smith) Schneider Obituary
Marvellee Schneider, 91, of Pittsburg, passed away at 8:35 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Via Christi Village.
She was born January 11, 1923, at Weir, KS, the daughter of George F. and Twila M. (Scott) Smith. She attended local schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1941.
On September 18, 1943, she was united in marriage to Leanord Schneider at Pittsburg, KS. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1976.
Mrs. Schneider worked in Home Care and was a nursery attendant at the First United Methodist Church, Pittsburg.
Membership was held in the Nashville Christian Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Pittsburg, where she was a former Chaplain, and the 8 & 40 of Pittsburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Mocnik of Parsons, KS, and Sandra Field and her husband, Michael of San Pedro, CA, two sons, Dennis Schneider of Pittsburg, KS, and Leanord Bruce Schneider of Elizabeth, CO, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lawrence W. Smith and Roy B. Smith.
A service for Mrs. Schneider is set for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, with Chaplain Adah Hutchcraft officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m., Saturday, at the Brenner Mortuary. The committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Nashville Christian Church and/or Mirza Hospital Dads. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
