Wayne K. Martin Obituary
Wayne K. Martin, 89, of Pittsburg, died on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. He had been in failing health for several months. Wayne was born on December 7, 1924. He was the youngest of 12 children born to Peter Harrison Martin and Zora Ettie (Videto) Martin of rural Valeda. He attended school at Valeda and graduated from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville. Wayne served as an x-ray technician in the Army from August, 1943 to April, 1946.
On May 26, 1949, he married Elizabeth Ann Edwards of Parsons who died on January 9, 2002. Wayne worked for 42 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone, earning an award for 33 years of perfect attendance in 1985. Survivors include his twin sister, Winnona Seger Storm and his older sister, Ruby Straub Crawford, both of Coffeyville; one son, Jeffrey Martin; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
According to his wishes, Mr. Martin's body has been cremated and there will be no service. Memorial donations may be made to Chicopee Foundation, P.O. Box 593, Pittsburg, Kansas 66762 or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 3 Medical Center Circle, Pittsburg, KS 66762. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. Fourth St., Pittsburg.
