Melva Lea (Cayton) Buckle Obituary
JOPLIN, Mo. - Melva Lea (Cayton) Buckle, 71, of Joplin, Mo., formerly of Arma, Kan., died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Freeman West Hospital at Joplin, Mo., after a lengthy illness.
Mrs Buckle was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Colby, Kan., the daughter of Nonie and Adella Gatlin Cayton. Melva was a homemaker. She married Don Buckle on Jan. 7, 1966, at Colby, Kan. Their union provided them three children, Kim Couch of Webb City, Mo., son Dan Buckle of Gilbert, Ariz., and Darla Easter of Joplin, Mo. Don and Melva raised their family primarily in Pittsburg, Kan. In addition to raising her children, Melva worked for many years at Mt. Carmel Hospital. In the early years of their marriage, Don and Melva enjoyed square dancing. She enjoyed crocheting, with a specialty in beautiful baby afghans. She had quite a talent for painting on crafts for all who knew her to enjoy. She leaves behind to mourn her husband Don of the home; her twin sister Meda Gregory; daughter Kim and husband Mark, and their children Heather (husband Scott), Shane and Taylor; son Dan; daughter Darla and husband Rick, their children Brittany and Bryce. She has four beautiful great grandchildren that she adored, Lily and Gentry Couch and Giuliana and Everson Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nonie and Adella; brother Melvin; and sister Doris. She will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune of knowing her.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with the Rev. John Swadley officiating. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Bedene Chapel in Arma. The family suggests memorials to the Crawford County Humane Society or Angels Among Us. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, KS 66712.
