Kenneth M. Taylor Obituary
Kenneth M. Taylor, 88, of rural Girard went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2014.

Mr. Taylor had been hospitalized at Via Christi in Pittsburg after sustaining a neck injury from a fall at his home.
He was born on January 31, 1926, on the family farm located Southeast of El Reno, Oklahoma to Bion F. Taylor and Garland Elizabeth (Leigh) Taylor.

As a young boy he attended rural school and graduated from El Reno High School in 1943 where he was an FFA Star Farmer. Having excelled in basketball, he attended El Reno Junior College, now Redlands Community College and Oklahoma A & M, now OSU.

On June 8, 1947 he was united in marriage to Melba Jean Moore at the First Christian Church in El Reno.

In 1948, the Taylor family relocated to Crawford County, Kansas, on a dairy farm located East of Girard, Kansas. Mr. Taylor had served on the Board of Directors of Mid American Dairy, Producers Co-op, Kansas Corn Commission, U. S. Feed Grain Council, and the Girard School Board of Education. He served for many years on the Crawford County Fair Board and was an Active Member of the Girard Methodist Church. He was a long time Shrine member of the Mirza Temple in Pittsburg as well as a Mason.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Melba of the home, include a daughter, Mary Clark and her husband Larry of Bonner  Springs, Kansas;  sons, Montie Taylor and his wife, Candyse, of rural Parsons, Kansas; Dr. Michael Taylor and his wife,  Joleen of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mark Taylor and his wife Marcie of rural Girard, Kansas; five grand children, Kathy McBride of Shawnee, Kansas, Kaleigh Clark of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Matthew Taylor of Kansas City; Julie Taylor of Parsons, Kansas; and Myles Taylor of Girard, Kansas; and four great grand children, Madison Peak, Bailey Peak, Hunter Peak, Mitchell McBride, and Olivia Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Lieutenant Bion L. Taylor in 1943.

The service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at 2:00 p.m., at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Girard with Reverend Steve Cole Officiating; burial to follow in the Girard Cemetery

Visitation for Mr. Taylor will be from 7 p.m. till 8 p.m., Monday, April 21, at the Smith-Carson-Wall funeral Home where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Girard United Methodist Church Play Ground Fund and these may be left at the Funeral Home or mailed to Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, P.O. Box 258, Girard, Kansas, 66743.
