Dannie Ray Bockover Obituary
Dannie Ray Bockover, 61, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

He was born April 23, 1953, at Chanute, KS, the son of Ralph Warren and Vessie Marie (Fulps) Bockover. Dan graduated from Humboldt High School in 1971and then enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1975. He also attended Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City, Missouri.

On August 21, 1974, he was united in marriage to Rochelle Cole at Iola, KS.

Dan worked as an automotive mechanic his entire life. He was the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 287, and enjoyed the times he coached youth baseball & soccer.

Membership was held in Countryside Christian Church, Pittsburg American Legion Post #64, and Pittsburg American Legion Riders Post #64.

In addition to his wife, Rochelle of 40 years, he is survived by a son, Kyle Ryan Bockover and his wife Ashlei of Pittsburg, KS; a daughter, Chelsea Nicole (Bockover) Johnston of Pittsburg, KS; four grandchildren, Makayla Breanna Bockover, Logan Davin Bockover, Maddoc William Johnston and Cole Daniel Johnston.  

He is also survived by four brothers David Bockover and his wife Peggy of West Covina, CA, Lyle Bockover and his wife Debbie of Olathe, KS, Kevin Bockover and his wife Sheila of Humboldt, KS, and Kelly Bockover of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Kathy Mikola of Kansas City, MO, and Alicia Schomaker and her husband Tom of Humboldt, KS; 22 nieces and nephews, 34 great-nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lloyd Bockover, Floyld Bockover, and Darrell Bockover. He was also preceded in death by his mother and father in-law Charles and Maxine Cole.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (July 2) at the Countryside Christian Church with Pastors Vance Russell and Brian Brubaker officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday in the Memorial Park Cemetery on 14th & Katy in Chanute, KS. Graveside Military Rites will be provided by the Chanute American Legion Post # 170. The family suggests memorials to the Countryside Christian Church and or the Presbyterian Church for their Youth Camp Scholarship Fund.  These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. Fourth St., Pittsburg. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary.
