Kenneth E. Yard Born: Dec. 23, 1932; Logansport, IN Died: Jan. 13, 2014; Morris, IL Kenneth E. "Buddy" (Kenny) Yard, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014 in his home. Born on December 23, 1932, in Logansport, Indiana, he was the son of the late George S. and Pauline M. (Baker) Yard. Kenny was raised and educated at Center School in Morris. On November 6, 1954 he married Virginia R. Walden in Wichita, Kansas. Kenny was a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a "Golden Glove" Boxer. During his service to our country, he served as a jet mechanic/instructor and also flew one mission as a tail gunner. Buddy was a charitable person who enjoyed helping others less fortunate. He was the type of man who would help anyone with anything. He was awarded the Governor 's Award for saving the life of a person involved in a boating accident on the Illinois River during which one life was lost. Buddy was also musically gifted and could make music from anything he touched. Buddy was a union carpenter for many years working with Carpenter 's Local 1092 of Seneca and 916 of Aurora until retiring at the age of 58. Kenny "lived and breathed beagles". He raised and trained champion beagles, winning numerous beagle field trials. Kenny also enjoyed turtle hunting, fishing and hunting of all types. Survived by Virginia Larkin, his four children, James (Karla) Yard, Kevin Yard, Denise (Greg) Gillespie, and Keith Yard all of Morris; his grandchildren, Tara (Jeff) Wilson of Benton, KY, Angella (Todd) Crose of Morris, Lucinda (Steve Cox) Yard of Coal City, Jacob (Christy) Yard of Verona, Jennifer (John) Murdaugh of Phoenix, AZ, Mitchell Yard of Morris, Natalie Yard of Minooka, Ashton Yard of Morris, Chanda (Travis) Kenney of Seneca, Ginger (Ray) Hellenbeck of Joliet, Benjamin Radigan of Morris, Leah (Dan) Peat of St. Joseph, Michigan, Mark Yard of Mazon, Christopher (Katie) Yard of Dwight, Rielly Yard of Mazon; 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by ten siblings, Charles (Genevieve) Yard of Mazon, Betty (Herbert) Davis of Channahon, Milton "Doc" Yard of Morris, Barbara Shepherd of Morris, Gary "Rocky" Yard of Morris, Pauline "Penny" Walker of Channahon, Mary Ellen Evans of Montrose, IL ,Anna Mae (Richard) Daniels of Carbondale, IL, Janet (Arthur) Patrick of Braidwood, Marilyn McWhorter of Morris. Preceded in death by his parents; siblings, James "Jimmy" Yard, Donald Yard, George Yard, Shirley, and twin sisters Dorothy and Doris. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home located at 301 W. Washington Street in Morris. A Celebration of Kenny 's life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home. Military honors will be performed by the Morris Color Guard. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made in Kenny 's name to the Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted with U.C.
