Died: July 29, 2014; in Joliet, IL

James W. "Jim" Finch, age 75, of Verona, Illinois, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born in Morris, December 10, 1938, to the late Margaret (nee Simpson) and Howard Finch, he was raised in Verona, attending Verona grade school and Mazon High School.

Beloved husband of nearly 50 years to Mary Ann (nee Miller) Finch of Verona; loving father of Jennifer (Ronald) Frye of Seneca and Jeff (Jeanette) Finch of Verona. Proud and devoted grandfather of Erica Frye of Champaign, Kyle Finch of Bloomington, Ryan Frye of Kinsman, David Frye of Seneca, Addison Frye of Seneca, Jaxson Finch of Verona and another grandchild due in December. Also survived by his sister, Carol (Dan) Havel of Morris; mother-in-law, Marie Miller of Streator; brother-in-law, Charles Miller of Genoa; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Wendell Miller; and sister-in-law, Judy Miller.

Jim, a retired truck driver, was also engaged in farming in his younger years.

He and Mary Ann enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona, where Jim was proud of helping construct the garden railroad. He also looked forward to playing Senior Softball in Mesa.

Funeral services for James W. Finch will be Friday, August 1, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris. Rev. Mark Amenda and Rev. John Hornicak officiating. Interment Ward Cemetery, Verona, IL. Visitation Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Ward Cemetery Association.
