Sylvia Eileen (Nelson) Wallin, 72, of Morris, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2014. Born November 2, 1941, in Morris, she was the daughter of the late Enar and Sarah (Isham) Nelson.

Sylvia was proud to serve her country as a member of the Women's Army Corps (WAC). She loved gardening, sewing, reading, and the Internet. Sylvia especially enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She also enjoyed life on the farm with her brothers and sisters, attending craft shows, Corn Festival, and her various occupations.

Survived by her husband of 47 years, Douglas Wallin; daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Chuck) Craig of Lone Tree, CO; son, Eric William Wallin of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Michelle and Alex Craig of Lone Tree, CO; sisters, Sharon (Dick) DiJohn of Summerlin, NV and Charlotte (Tom) Vodacek of Mazon; brother, Douglas (Judi) Nelson of Lakeland, FL and brother-in-law, Alan (the late Sandra) Burkhart of Phoenix, AZ.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Mitchell "Mitt" Nelson; and sisters, Lucinda "Cinda" Kavanaugh, and Sandra "Sandy" Burkhart.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Sylvia's caretakers, Adrienne and Diane.

Private graveside services for Sylvia will be held for the family at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014. Full military honors will be presented by the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Arrangements have been entrusted with U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, 301 W. Washington Street, Morris, Illinois.
