Thomas E. Welsh, age 66 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully July 3, 2014, following a dignified battle with ALS.
Tom attended Custer grade school and graduated from high school in Braidwood with the Class of 1965.
He honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Tom's employment included working at Hickory Creek Supermarket for 15 years; he owned and operated Wilmington Cleaners for 25 years and retired in 2009, from Mobil after 27 years of service.
Survivors include his wife Sandy; children: John, David (Kelli) and Katelyn Welsh; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jack and Doris Nicol; brother William, Jr. (Brenda) Welsh; sister Bonnie (Bill) Tenn and sister-in-law Barb (Doug) Rink, all of Wilmington; nieces and nephews: Calvin and Jordan Rink, Melissa Bianchini, William "Bopper" Welsh and William and Steven Tenn, as well as his dear friend Becky Robertson.
Visitation will be Friday, July 11th from 3-8 PM and Saturday, July 12th from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd., Wilmington (815-476-2181).
Funeral Mass will follow Saturday, at 11:00 AM in St. Rose Catholic Church, Wilmington. A private family burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
