Mrs. James (Carolyn S.) Yard, 72, of Morris, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2015. Born November 15, 1942, in Morris, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Dale (Hamilton) Darlington.
She was educated in Morris schools. She married James R. Yard on October 16, 1957, in Fleming County, KY. Carolyn was employed at the Morris Lincoln Nursing Home for 35 years as a housekeeper and with the D.H.S. of the State of Illinois, retiring in 2005.
Carolyn loved to play cards and enjoyed working in the yard. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church in Morris.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana L. (Willie) Pineda of Morris; son, Michael Yard of Chester, IL; three grandchildren, Kelly Yard, Korri Yard, and Nicholas Pineda; two great-grandchildren, Madison Wedic and Owen Yard; one sister, Barbara Bass; one brother, David (Marty) McGinnis of Shorewood, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, James on September 13, 20015; one son, Brian R. Yard on February 5, 2006; one sister, Sharon Gilvin; and one brother, Stanley Darlington.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015, and will leave the funeral home at noon to proceed to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood where services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. for James and Carolyn Yard, officiated by Pastor Joel Robertson. Full military honors will be conducted for James.
