Daniel J. Chinski Obituary
Daniel J. Chinski

Born: June 26, 1941; in Custer Park, IL

Died: August 14, 2018; in Braidwood, IL

Daniel J. Chinski, age 77, of Braidwood, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018 in his Braidwood home.

Dan was born June 26, 1941 in Custer Park, IL to the late Matthew and Madeline (Yeates) Chinski. He was their third of four children. In the summer of 1965 Dan started dating his childhood friend Judy Dixon. They were married on November 13th, 1965 and celebrated nearly 53 happy years of marriage. Dan and Judy were blessed with 4 children, Dan (Chandra) Chinski of Braidwood, Jamie (Darren) Mack of Diamond, Jill O'Shea Chinski of Braidwood and Judiann Chinski of Braidwood. They were grandparents to 5: Kaylie (Michael) Barrow, Paige Mack, Hunter O'Shea, Hayden Mack and Darby O'shea.

Dan grew up in Custer Park and attended Reed-Custer High school. He began working at R.R. Donnelly & Sons in Dwight for 32 years where he retired as bindery supervisor. Along with Cathy & John Dixon, Dan and Judy were owners of Polka-Dot Drive-In in Braidwood. Dan served on the board of directors for the Braidwood Recreation Club, and he was a trustee for the Braidwood Fire Protection District. Dan and Judy raised their family in Braidwood. In his retirement, Dan continued to care for his family, alternating his time between golf matches and family events and sporting activities. Dan loved the Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers and suffered the life-long taunts of friends who did not approve. He loved golfing, reading, playing euchre, coaching little league, singing around the campfire and traveling with Judy and their friends. Mostly, he loved being with his grandchildren and cheering them on with Judy by his side.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Stasia and Dennis Hextell; his brother, Steven Chinski; and his father-in-law, John Dixon Sr.

Dan is survived by his brother, Matthew (Teri) Chinski; sister-in-law, Jan Chinski; brothers-in-law, John (Cathy) Dixon and Jay (Elizabeth) Dixon; and mother-in-law, Kathryn Dixon; as well as many nieces and nephews.
