Died: July 2, 2018; in Morris, IL

Norman "Rocky" Rauchenecker, 90, of Morris, IL passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at Park Pointe Senior Living Center after a courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer's disease. His family would like to thank Rockys caregivers for the love and compassion they showed throughout his time with them.

Born June 27, 1928, in Chicago, Rocky was the son of the late Ruth Kierland and George Rauchenecker. He married Patricia Duffy in 1950. After fifty-seven years together, she preceded him in death in 2007.

Rocky proudly served his country with the United States Army where he spent 2 years in the Corps of Engineers in Yokohama, Japan during the occupation. He returned to the U.S. in December, 1948 when he attended Lake Forrest College. He started on the loading dock of New Century Freight Traffic Association and rose through the ranks to become Vice President of the company. Rocky and Pat then retired to Morris, Illinois to be close to their grandkids.

He is survived by his children, Gary (Lyla) Rauchenecker of Genesee, CO, Sue (Tom) Gumm of Morris, IL, and Steve (Beth Davis) Rauchenecker of Woodstock, IL; grandchildren, Cory (Nicholas) Larson and Cole (Mallory) Gumm; and great-grandchild, Roan Larson.
