Carroll L. Dailey, 77 of Marengo died Thursday October 31, 2013 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born on December 14, 1935, in Sandyville, WV to the late Harry A. and Ethel (Blair) Dailey.
A resident of Marengo since 1950, living on the family farm and was a graduate of the Marengo High School Class of 1954. Carroll was a lifelong farmer and retired from Marion Power Shovel (Dresser Industries) with 43 years of service as their most senior employee.
He was enthusiastic sports fan. He loved professional football and basketball and OSU football. Carroll was an avid reader and especially enjoyed westerns. He enjoyed traveling, square dancing, bowling and any social event. He was an antique tractor enthusiast and had a love of farming. But most of all he loved to talk!
He is survived by his dear friend and companion: Doris McKee, his children: Deborah Dailey, Jill (Russell) Carpenter, Lisa (Dan) Townsend and Daniel (Lisa) Dailey; brother, Charles Dailey of Marengo. Grandchildren are Jonathan and Jessica (Welsh) Carpenter, Andrew, Joshua and Matthew Townsend and Amber, Ashley, Brian (Bridget), Ben and Harold J. Dailey. He had five great grandchildren, Macye Kirkland, Danny Townsend, Kailie Townsend, Anthony Copen and David Dailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Knight, brother Alton Dailey and grandson Philip Dailey.
His family will greet friends and family on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Gompf Funeral in Cardington. Funeral services will be held Monday November 4, 2013 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in the Marengo Cemetery.
