Cathy S. McClelland, age 63, of Delaware and formerly of Mount Gilead, died Sunday evening, June 9, 2013, at her daughter's residence in Delaware following a two year battle with breast cancer
On February 10, 1950, Cathy was born in Bucyrus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Warren R. and Wilma Rhoda (Robinson) McClelland. She graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1968.
For many years, Cathy was a nursing assistant at Woodside Village Care Center and then worked as a supervisor in the workshop at Whetstone Industries.
A woman of faith, Cathy grew up in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Gilead. She more recently attended Calvary Baptist Church in Crestline.
Cathy loved to take care of her animals. Over the years she had many dogs, cats, a ferret, and a turtle.
Family was always the most important thing to Cathy. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, spoiling them in any way she could. They spent many weekends together and enjoyed playing at the park. After her parents passed away, Cathy poured her heart into taking wonderful care of her brother, Gary.
Cathy will be dearly missed by her daughter, Chantel (Brian) Crawford of Delaware; her two grandsons, Hayden and Evan Crawford of Delaware; and her brother, Gary W. McClelland of Johnsville, formerly of Mount Gilead.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pamela McClelland.
A graveside funeral service honoring Cathy's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2013, at the Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating.
