Mooresville, NC – Constance Charmaine Irons, 81, formerly of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, was escorted to heaven by angels on May 11, 2012. Mom was at home, surrounded by her loving family and her beloved cats.
Mom was born on April 15, 1931, in Galion, Ohio, to the late Clyde and Anna Marie Widman Wise.
Mom often worked two jobs to take care of her four children that she raised on her own after her husband's untimely death. Mom retired after 24 years at the Morrow County Auditor's Office as a Deputy Auditor. She also started the recycling program at the courthouse and was "green" long before the term was even used.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, husband Allen Rae Irons (2/23/61); brother, Bill Wise (Betty); and sister, Rosemary Drexel (Gene). Survivors include her four children Sandi Lowe (Rick) of Mooresville, NC; Lon Irons (Rita) of Marion, OH; Bret Irons of Findley, OH; and Allana Raye D'Andrea (Patrick) of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren Ryan Irons, Katie Penree, Annie Speicher, Jared Lowe, and Dustin Patrick D'Andrea; great-grandchild Maxwell Irons, many nieces and nephews.
Mom also leaves behind, and is missed by, her feline children: Thomas and Pete (who are 22), Katie, Maizy, and Gracie. Also her eight "wood cats" whom she fed daily. I am sure Mom stopped on her way to her heavenly home at the Rainbow Bridge.
Mom was a true environmentalist and conservationist and believed that God wanted us all to be good stewards of this earth. Mom loved all animals (especially cats) and was passionate in their care, protection and respect. Mom will be remembered for her wit, great sense of humor (even during her illness), enjoyment of telling jokes, wonderful laughter and kindness to all. Mom was a loving Mother and God has gained a special angel.
A memorial mass for Charmaine will be held on Saturday, May 18th, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish in Cardington, Ohio. Mom was a devout Catholic and member of the parish for over 55 years. Family will receive friends and a luncheon will be held immediately following mass. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers and in tribute to her deep love of animals, memorial contributions can be made to Humane Society of Morrow County, P.O. Box 298, Mt. Gilead, OH 43338. (419) 947-5791 or online at http://www.hsofmc.org/.
