Florence McElroy

Florence E. (Postell) McElroy, beloved wife of Jack McElroy, passed away peacefully amid loving family on July 9, 2013.

She was born May 19, 1925, in Marion, Ohio to the late Andrew and Lillian Postell. She married Jack McElroy on October 1, 1983 and lived together in Cardington. She worked as a waitress at Nickerson Farms and hosted square dances at her barn on County Road 191. Her husband, her family, and her friends have lost a loving, giving, accomplished, respected and altogether remarkable woman. She is dearly missed but lives on in the hearts and minds of all who loved her.

She is survived by three sisters: Betty (Charles) Osborne, Sheila Cornelius, and Sharon Beeney and one brother Roger (Donna) Postell, all of Marion, Ohio. She is preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers. She is survived by two children, Jacqueline (David) Leibengood Davis and Michael (Barb) Dawson of Tennessee. She is survived by step-children: Jack (Magdalene) McElroy Jr, Debbie (Russ) Rigney, Mary (Robert) Tromm, Becky (Bill) Hoskins, and Cathy (Steve) Ball. She is survived by grandchildren: Christopher (Vicki) Leibengood, Matthew (Sherry) Leibengood, Ian (Emily Watts) Leibengood, Timothy Dawson, Judd (Luanne) Dawson, and Julie Dawson. She is also survived by nine step-grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.

Family will greet friends Friday, July 12, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gompf Funeral Home, Cardington Ohio. A Funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Gompf Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Brett Cornelius of Gethsemane Lutheran LCMS Church. Burial will follow in Fulton Cemetery.
