Sherman Robert "Bob" Gibson, 73, passed away with his family by his side on May 25, 2014.

Bob was born on January 17, 1941 in Monroe, MI. He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Ada (Hale) Gibson and 7 siblings: Mary, Irene, James, Thomas Jr., Clyde, Bessie and Janet.

Survivors include: Carol Jean (Hamilton) Gibson, whom he married November 2, 1963, daughters Tammy (Richard) Glynn, Roberta "Bobbi" Roy, grandchildren Kashmir Roy, Sylvia "Trish" (Matt) Loebell, Elizabeth Kirby, Thomas Kirby and great grandchildren Elisha Loebell and Kaylee Roy.

He lived in Kenton, Ohio where he attended elementary school at Dola and Alger. He went to high school at Whetstone in Bucyrus, Ohio. Bob joined the Army in 1958. He was a Vietnam Veteran, served in several areas in the Pacific, was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and was honorably discharged in 1962. He served in the Ohio National Guard Company C-1 Battalion 166th Infantry where he was a sharp shooter from 1962-1968.

Bob worked at Galion Community Hospital, Galion, Ohio for 27 years starting as Electrician and finishing as Bio-Medical Engineer. He then moved to Bradenton, Florida where he worked at Manatee Memorial Hospital and West Coast Electric. He finished his career as an Electrical Inspector for Manatee County Government until he retired in June, 2007.

Bob was a Charter Lions Club President, President and Vice-President of Northmor School Board and Co-President of Northmor Music Boosters in Galion, Ohio.

Bob loved helping people and dearly loved his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Interment will be June 27 at 11:00 a.m., located at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 Hwy 72 (Clark Road), Sarasota, FL 34241; A Celebration of Life will be June 27, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bayshore Gardens Recreation Center, 6919 26th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34207.
