Martha Jean Crothers, age 55, of Allen, Texas passed away on February 25, 2014 in Celina, Texas.

She was born on August 20, 1958 in Nelsonville, Ohio with Down Syndrome and quickly disproved all the myths about what she couldn't do and showed the world what she could do! She grew up in Cardington, Ohio and attended Whetstone School until age 22. She participated in the Ohio Special Olympics and won many ribbons for her excellent swimming abilities, bowling, track & field events.

Martha had a large, loving family and a multitude of friends who always made sure there was plenty of activity which she thrived on. She traveled throughout the United States and moved to Texas full time in 2008 with her sister, Marianne and family. She enjoyed music, dancing, puzzles, magazines, crafts, good food and family gatherings. Martha was all-loving, all-caring and gave hugs and kisses to everyone she greeted. She will be greatly missed but has left a special smile on the hearts of all who loved her.

Martha is survived by her brothers David Crothers, Phillip & wife Frankie Crothers, John & wife Lisa Crothers, Timmy Crothers, Tommy Crothers all in the Morrow County area; sisters Marianne (Crothers) Smith & husband Roger of Allen, Texas; Robin (Crothers) Thomas and husband Walt of Crown City, Ohio. Martha also has almost 30 nieces & nephews as well as great nieces & nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley A (Streets) Crothers and Larry D. Crothers.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas with Reverend Timothy A Church officiating. Cremation by Scoggins Funeral Home, VanAlstyne, Texas.
