Betty M. Hoffman, age 86 of Mount Gilead, died Thursday evening December 5, 2013 at Kingston Residence of Marion. She was born in Waldo on May 19, 1927 to the late Myron and Margurite (McCann) Sipe.
Betty worked at North Electric for 18 years. She was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Mount Gilead. Betty was a volunteer and a Charter Member of the Rainbow Twigs at the Morrow County Hospital. She was a Charter member of the Mount Gilead Fire Department Auxiliary. She also worked on the Board of Elections and Sids Cleaners.
Betty loved getting the whole family together for Christmas. She loved to shop and cook, especially baking cookies.
On July 6, 1948, Betty married Merle "Herb" Hoffman at the Sailor and Soldiers Home in Xenia, Ohio and he survives in Mount Gilead.
Along with her husband, Betty is survived by her son, Timothy Hoffman of Mount Gilead; grandsons, Tyler Hoffman of Mount Gilead, Josh Cox and Caleb Cox, both of Mount Gilead; several nieces and nephews and her K-9 Companion, Honey.
In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Sipe and 2 sisters, Goldie Wynn and Barbara Walshek.
Friends may call on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 South Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in the funeral home at 10:30 with Pastor Kelly Melvin officiating. Following the service the burial will take place in the Rivercliff Cemetery.
