Donald H. Beardsley, age 72, of Mount Gilead, died Wednesday evening, June 5, 2013, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following an extended illness.
On May 27, 1941, Don was born in Galion, Ohio, the oldest of three children of the late John "Harold" and Edith Mae (Woodruff) Beardsley. He was raised in Mount Gilead, where he graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1959.
A dedicated worker, Don worked for North Electric, Cosmo Plastics, and the Village of Mount Gilead.
Don was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Mount Gilead Lion's Club.
For many years, Don and his family enjoyed taking his boat to Alum Creek in Delaware and taking turns water skiing. He also enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, old time shows and movies, bowling and listening to music.
A kind and caring man, Don loved to visit and joke around with people.
He will be missed by his wife, Alicia Ann Beardsley of Zanesville, whom he married on June 2, 1991; a sister, Irene (Charles) Gould of Mount Gilead; brother, Jerry (Pam) Beardsley of Edison; and several nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, Don was preceded in death by his step-son, William "Billy" Catron.
The Beardsley family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring his life will follow there at 11:00 a.m., with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Morrow County Emergency Squad and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
