Eric Rectenwald Obituary
On November 5, 1961, Eric was born in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Walter Rectenwald and Mary (Denny) Rectenwald McManis. He was raised by his mother and step-father, the late Lawrence McManis.
Eric worked in construction and also laid carpet for many years.
On December 3, 1999, he married the love of his life, Jane (Shade) Rectenwald. Together they raised four children. They lived in Cardington for several years, until they moved to Mount Gilead in 2007.
Very talented and artistic, Eric enjoyed using his carpentry skills to make most anything you could think of out of wood. One of his favorite things to make, was to carve a rose out of a deer antler.
Always tinkering, Eric loved to work on and restore his 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme car.
With a love for the outdoors, Eric enjoyed camping with his family for many years until he was no longer able, due to his health.
An outspoken person, you always knew where things stood with Eric. Most importantly though, he was a ""dedicated husband and loving father"".
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jane Rectenwald of Mount Gilead; four children: Sherry Mullett of Cardington, Susan (Lynn) Broome, Jeremy Mullett, and Jesse Rectenwald, all three of Mount Gilead; two grandchildren: Issac and Aaron; several nieces and nephews; and his baby doll, Lilly, who is a canine companion. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister: Carl (Julie) Rectenwald of Columbus, Mary (Doug) Whitt of Centerburg, and Rick (Julie) McManis.
Per Eric's wishes, services will be observed privately by his family. At a later date, he will be buried in Bryn Zion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to his family, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
