Mount Gilead: John R. Halderman, age 63, of Mount Gilead died Thursday March 14, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born May 5, 1949 in Columbus to the late Gerald F. and Sarah E. ( Slagel ) Halderman.
John had retired from Big Bear after 20 years of service and then had worked at the Village Tavern in Waldo. He had also been involved in the sale of both Real Estate and Insurance. He was a member of the Waldo American Legion Post #605, was an avid collector of baseball cards and loved sports, especially the Buckeyes and Bengals.
On April 1, 2000 in Mount Gilead he married the former Joyce A. Ralston and she survives.
John is also survived by his children Kathy ( Mike ) Clayton of Edison, John Halderman II of Mt. Gilead, Justin ( Allisa ) Halderman of Texas, and Rebecca Ralston of Mt. Gilead; twelve grandchildren; and siblings, Ruby ( Jerry ) Marvin of Wisconsin, Patricia Watkins, and Charles Halderman of Columbus.
John was preceded in death by his daughter Dianne Halderman and two brothers, Gerald and Steve Halderman.
Friends may call Monday March 18 at the Crossroads Nazarene Church in Fulton from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00PM. Pastor Ben Powers will officiate at the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that monetary donations be made to Gompf Funeral Home to assist with the funeral expenses.
