Juanita "'Judy'" Brown

  |   Visit Guest Book

Juanita "Judy" S. Brown, known to most as either "Mom" or "Grandma", went home to be with her Lord and Savior, early Thursday morning, June 20, 2013, at the Bennington Glen Care Center in Marengo. She was 85 years old and formerly of Morrow County.

On February 21, 1928, Judy was born in Rosemont, West Virginia, the sixth of seven children of the late Henry and Grace (Harrison) Watson. She graduated from high school in West Virginia.

Being the wife of a preacher, Judy has lived in many places, and always has made sure her family was taken care of. She lovingly raised her six children and fostered many more, being "Mom" to all of them.

Dedicating most of her time and life to her church, Judy has been a part of several Church of Christ in Christian Union churches. At many of those churches, she served as a youth leader.

With a love for music, Judy loved to play her guitar and sing gospel songs. She especially enjoyed traveling to different churches to sing with her two youngest boys, Donnie and Ronnie.

An excellent cook, Judy always made breakfast, lunch and dinner for her family, and they always had fried chicken on Sundays. Her family could talk for hours about all of their favorite dishes she made.

A classy and sassy lady, Judy had loads of fun with her family, but she also made sure they knew when they needed to quiet down.

She will be missed by her six children: Dixie (Lewis Burdette) Pyne of Delaware, Sonny (Marilyn) Brown of Cardington, Robert "Bob" (Doris) Brown, Donnie (Helen) Brown, both of Delaware, Ron (Dee Partlow) Brown of Cardington, and Drew Brown of Maryland; 14 grandchildren: Kenneth (Mary) Goble, Jonathan (Mindy) Goble, David (Angel) Brown, Tabitha Kohler, Natasha Peters, Marshall Brown, Andrea (Chris) Thompson, Randall Brown, Sherrie (Clifford) Ishler, Donna Bennett, Clifford Bennett, Les Brown, Lori Brown, and Kyra Brown; 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her grandson-in-law, Shane Peters; and a great-granddaughter, Kristen Peters.

Her family will greet friends from 2 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring her life will follow there at 4:00 p.m., with Kathy Garrison officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the care of the funeral home to assist her family with funeral expenses.
