Kenneth W. Cline, a third generation farmer passed away Saturday morning, March 8, 2014 at Grady Memorial Hospital. He was 90 years young.

Born on January 23, 1924 to the late Clois E. and Lula (Long) Cline, he was a 1942 graduate of Waldo High School.

He and his family operated the Cline Family Farm, raising livestock and grain. A family farm which proudly continues into its fourth generation of operation. Working the fields of mother earth allowed him to enjoy the outdoors, where he treasured time spent. Dedicated and civic minded from 1953 until 2004 he served on the Norton, Ashley, Elm Valley, Buckeye Valley and Delaware JVS School Boards. For 20 years he served as a Westfield Township Trustee, stepping aside in 2011. He also served on the Elm Valley Fire Board. A 70 year member of the Ashley Grange, he was also a member of the Delaware County Pomona Grange, Ohio State Grange and National Grange. He was a member of the Ashley Lions Club and the Morrow County Trustee Association and was a former member of the Westfield United Methodist Church.

Farm life and concern for his community and family left for little free time. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and enjoyed bowling in the Grange and church leagues in his younger years. One who enjoyed a good meal, he collected pewter and Meakin Tea Leaf ware, as well as Hummel and Precious Moments figurines. Ken also lived a family centered life and was at his best keeping them in line and sharing a smile while doing so. He thoroughly enjoyed working with the township and helping his fellow neighbor.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Pat Cline of Ashley and Audra (Rev. Brian) Smith of Sunbury; son Lenny (Lyndi) Cline of Waldo; grandchildren Melissa (Andy) Stevens, Christy (Tristan) Knarr, Erin (Brian) Barkley, and Jared Cline (Jennifer Russell); great-grandchildren Allyson Stevens, Mahayla and Hanna Barkley, and Jackson and Harper Knarr. He was also preceded in death by his wife and partner in life for 60 years Ruth E. (Hill) who died in 2004, his brother Mearl C. Cline in 2002, brothers-in-law Dr. James Hill and Robert Hill.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 11 from 5 - 7 pm at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury and where services will be held on Wednesday, March 12 at 10:30 am with Rev. Brian Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Ashley Union Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers are Jared Cline and Jennifer Russell, Melissa and Andy Stevens, and Christy and Tristan Knarr.

Contributions in Ken's memory may be made to the Elm Valley Fire District, P.O. Box 480, Ashley, Ohio 43003; envelopes available at the funeral home.
