Mildred E. Adams, age 79 of Cardington died Wednesday, July 03, 2013 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born on January 29, 1934 in Marengo to the late Paul M. and Imo Martha (Smith) Hatten.
On August 8, 1952 Mildred married Walter "Bud" Adams and he preceded her in death on March 14, 1994.
Mildred was a giving woman, never wanting or asking much for herself. Raised on a farm, she knew hard work and that got her through life raising 6 children. Facing many hurdles and triumphs she firmly believed that everything happens for a reason, trusting that God would get her through. She never let anyone forget that "God is in control" and that the day and time has come to let her go.
Mildred is survived by her 6 children; Kathleen Gledhill (Eric Masters), Mansfield, Fred (Kathy) Adams, Judy (Don) Steck, Tom (Gina) Adams, and Joe Adams all of Cardington and Susan (Aaron) Windbigler of Mt. Gilead; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; her friend and companion of 14 years, Lawrence Parsons; siblings, Daniel(Vivian) Hatten of Mt. Vernon, Annie Scott of Mt. Gilead, and Elma Black of Marengo.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her brothers Harry and David Hatten; sisters Roselene Young and Barbara Richey and great-grandson Gabriel Sherbourne.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow in the Alum Creek Friends Cemetery.
