Bob Eckard, 66, of Archer City, Texas passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at his home. A Memorial Service was held Friday, April 4, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Archer City with Pastor Rebecca Grogan officiating and a eulogy by his son, Derrick Eckard.
Bob was born May 7, 1947 in Delaware County Ohio to Ralph Eckard and Phyllis (Jeanette) Eckard. He was a star football player for the Mt. Gilead Indians during his high school years. He moved to Archer City in 1978 to work in the oil fields. He married Julie Morris on December 20, 1980, and the two raised their son Derrick in Arlington, Texas where Bob worked as a car salesman. He returned to Archer City and retired in 2010.
Survivors include his wife Julie Eckard of Archer City, TX; son Derrick Eckard of Los Angeles, CA; mother Phyllis Eckard of Cardington, OH; sister, Terril Cimino of Galion, OH; brother Terry Eckard and wife Mary of Mt. Gilead, OH; and several nieces, nephews, and other family. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Eckard.
The Eckard family thanks the many family and friends who have offered their love and support through shared memories, beautiful flowers, and other remembrances. A special thank you to Bob's high school classmates of 1965.
