Robert Lee McLaughlin (1928 - 2012)

Robert Lee McLaughlin, age 84, of Marengo, went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Bennington Glen Nursing Center. He was born March 8, 1928, in Lancaster, to the late Walter J. McLaughlin and Bertha (McClelland) McBroom.

Robert graduated from Lancaster High School and attended the Ohio State University. He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the U S. Navy and later in the Ohio State Guard. He went on to marry the love of his life, Audrey Jeanne Pritchard, on June 16, 1946. Robert lived in Columbus before moving to Marengo for 42 years. He retired as a national sales manager with Service Wire Company of Huntington, West Virginia.

Robert had a great love of music and sang solos in church choirs and community musicals of Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Little Abner and Elijah. His greatest love was for his family and for the Lord Jesus Christ. He never knew a stranger, was able to talk to anyone he met and to share his faith in the Lord.

Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Audrey Jeanne McLaughlin of Marengo; son, Mark (Cathy) McLaughlin of Columbus; daughter, Janet(David) Reinhardt of Danbury, Connecticut; daughter-in-law, Carol McLaughlin of Marengo; 9 grandchildren: Matthew McLaughlin of Centerburg; Michael (Annette) McLaughlin of Fredericktown; Nathan(Brandy) McLaughlin of Marengo; Adam McLaughlin of Chicago; Kara (Daniel) Jones; Anna Reinhardt of Danbury, CT; Sophia (Francisco) Castellanos of Lake Worth, FL; Estella (Steve) Reinhardt-Stone of Waterbury, CT; Martha (Matthew) Calciano of Windsor, CT; and 19 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, John McLaughlin of Marengo and his sister, Barbara Jean Lunsford of Lancaster.

Friends may call 6-8 PM, Thursday, at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR's 3 at 61, Sunbury. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 336 W. Main St, Cardington with Pastor Steven Dennis officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville with military honors.
