Velma E. McCoy, 91 of Marion, Ohio, died Friday evening peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born in Centerville, Kentucky June 15th, 1922 to the late William and Mattie Dotson.
Velma worked for years in the health care industry caring for the elderly in Jupiter Island, Florida. She then went on to care for the elderly in her home in Dixon, Missouri until she was in her early eighties. She attended the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church in Marion, Ohio until her passing. She was known by all that knew her for her love for the Lord and her kind words to everyone she met.
She married the love of her life Charlie D. McCoy on March 14th, 1944 in Paris, Kentucky, and out of this union was born three children Charles Donald McCoy, Jewell D. McCoy of Marion, Ohio, and Billy R. McCoy (Linda) of Cardington, Ohio.
She will be dearly missed by her seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and siblings Buddy Dotson (Bonnie) of Lexington, Kentucky, Iona Hinkle of Paris, Kentucky, and Glen Dotson (Ruth) of Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by husband Charlie, son Donnie, one sister, and one brother.
Friends may call Tuesday October 1st 2013 from 5pm-8pm and funeral service on Wednesday October 2nd 2013 at 11am at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home 1120 North Main Street Paris, Kentucky 40361. Reverend David Blowers will be officiating the service. Following the service the burial will take place in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Memorial Donation can be made to the family in Lieu of flowers.
