It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Husband, our Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, James D. Haynie, passed from this life peacefully at the age of 97 on May 4, 2013.
He was born Oct. 1, 1915 in Williamsville, MO to Roy and Pearl Haynie, the 2nd eldest of 9 children. He became deaf at the age of 18 months. He graduated in 1937 from Fulton, MO School for the deaf, a military school, where he served as Captain throughout his tenure there. In spite of his deafness, he served as a tremendous inspiration to all who knew him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 72 years, Wanda (Irvine) Haynie; 2 daughters, Pat Sykes and Ellie (Vern) White-Johnson, both of Alpharetta; brother, Roy (Neola) Haynie, of Farmington, MO; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Charmaine Celli, of Chesterville, OH.
Visitation will be from 12 – 1 pm and the Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 pm, Sat., May 11, both at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell, GA 30076. He will be placed at rest at Green Lawn Cemetery following the service.
