Warren Guy Wheeler, age 74, of Marengo, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Marion General Hospital, following a short illness.
He was born August 12, 1939 in Marengo, to Guy and Edna (Rosencrance) Wheeler, and graduated from Marengo High School in 1957.
He was self-employed as a farmer for several years, then worked as a Dairy Herdsman for many years, and decided in 1982 to become an over-the-road Semi Tractor Owner/Operator. After retiring, he decided to be a driver for several Amish Families, which he loved to do.
Warren belonged to the Morrow County Antique Tractor Association and especially loved working at Farm Days. He has been a Morrow County Mounted Deputy, and his family owned and drove two covered wagons on rides throughout Central Ohio in the 1970's.
In 1961, he married Vernona E. "Noni" Fuller. They were happily married for 52 years. Together, they raised two sons and three daughters: Terri (Mike) Ventry of Hastings, MN, Richard (Terrina) Wheeler of Haymarket, VA, Deborah (Roger) Bachelder of Chesterville, Robert (Bonnie) Wheeler of Cardington, and Penni (Steve) Fox of Cardington. Since he graduated from Marengo, he wanted all of his children to graduate from the Highland School Systems. Each of them made him so proud as he saw them receive their diplomas.
One of his life's passion was driving, you just had to say let's go, and he was ready. He loved visiting with his children and grandchildren, and drove wherever they lived.
In addition to his wife and children, he was blessed with nine grandchildren: Vann Wheeler, Mary Wheeler, Jackie Ventry, Beth Ventry, Ben Ventry, Nick MacDonald, Andy MacDonald, Travis Fox, and Lexi Fox; one great-granddaughter, Hailey Wheeler; a brother David Wheeler of Kannapolis, NC; and many nephews and nieces and their families who also mourn our loss.
He is preceded by his parents and brothers: Albert and Claude Wheeler; and a sister, Ruth Price.
His family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday, May 23, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the Marengo United Methodist Church, 8 N. Main St., Marengo, with Rev. Dr. Jan Sprague officiating. Burial will follow in Ashley Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Morrow County, P.O. Box 86, Mount Gilead, OH 43338.
