Robert Briggs, age 95, of Marion, formerly of Cardington, passed away early this morning March 25, 2013 at Partners of Marion. He was born February 23, 1918 to the late Walter N. and Phoebe M. (Ferguson) Briggs.
He married Grace E. Clunk on June 30, 1943 at the Waldo United Methodist Church and she preceded him in death on February 1, 1994.
Robert was a 1936 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School, a devoted member of the St John (Windfall) Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Chairman of Building Committee and Sunday School Superintendent. He spent his life farming and was a carpenter by trade. Additionally, he served on the Cardington-Lincoln School Board, was a member of the Morrow County Gleaners, Farm Bureau and Farmer's Organization.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Jon) Sutton of Clyde and Carol (Stan) Heacock of Westerville; Sister, Helen (Briggs) Geckle, Marion; Grandchildren, Annetra (Alex) Bush, Jonathan (Amy) Sutton, Joseph (Deanna) Sutton, Matthew Heacock, and Kara Sutton; Great Grandchildren, Ariana, Aiden, Ashton Bush and Charlotte Sutton.
Friends and family may call on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 1-3 and 5-7 PM at Gompf Funeral Home 440 South Center Street, Cardington, Ohio. Services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013, 10:30 AM at St John (Windfall) Church with Reverend Adam Sornchai officiating with burial in Windfall Cemetery.
