Daniel E. "Dan" Deel, age 75 of Marengo, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday morning April 11, 2013 at Morrow County Hospital in Mount Gilead.
He was born on January 27, 1938 in Breaks, Va. To the late Henry and Opal "Gladys" (Owens) Deel. He moved to Marengo in 1943 and was a 1956 graduate of Marengo High School. He was a retired maintenance man and electrician for PPG in Delaware retiring in 2000 with 36 years of service. A former member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and now a member of Glory Baptist Church.
Dan loved his family and held precious the time spent with his children and grandchildren. Dan was a servant of the Lord, easy going, gentle, enjoyed doing for others and he got along with everybody. Dan loved animals, reading and studying the bible with friends on Friday mornings at the Farmstead Restaurant. Dan loved tractors especially Ferguson, Ford and John Deere. He enjoyed traveling to Holmes County to look for antiques, eat Amish food and to get cookies at Miller's Bakery.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Mary (Adams) Deel and they were married February 18, 1960 in Mount Gilead; son: Danny
A. Deel of Mount Gilead, daughter: Melissa (Terry) Harris of Clemons, NC, granddaughters: Kaitlyn, Kelsea; brothers: Kenneth, Ted (Sue), David (Loretta) all of Marengo, Omar of Westerville.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where funeral services will be held Monday 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Deel officiating. Interment will follow in the Marengo Cemetery.
