Jan A. Ault, age 55 of Mount Gilead, died Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 20, 1958 to John William Ballard Jr. and Georgenia "Jean" (Jarvis) Rowland.
Jan was a 1976 graduate of Galion High School and went on to work as a dog groomer for the majority of her life. Dogs to Jan were not just animals, they were her passion. She showed all over the country for over 35 years competitively and was a member of the Pharaoh Hound Club of America. She also served as a 4-H advisor for 30 years.
On August 21, 1976 in Johnsville, Ohio, Jan married Paul L. Ault and he survives in Mt. Gilead.
Other survivors include her mother and step-father, Georgenia "Jean" ("Tom") Rowland of Mt. Gilead, 2 children: Nick (Megan) Ault of Genoa, Italy and Tia (Nick) Wise of Cardington; 1 brother, Jeff (Cheryl) Ballard of Mansfield, 3 sisters: Jodi Ballard of Shelby, Judy of Shelby and Tammy Stoney of Bucyrus; 2 grandchildren: Blake and Zane Wise; and best friend, Kimberly Grega of Salem, NY.
Jan was preceded in death by her father, John William Ballard Jr.
Friends may call on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where the funeral service will begin promptly at 4:00 PM.
