Milfred Waggoner died Wednesday, October 09, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 1, 1928 in Gould, Oklahoma to C.H. and Verdie Waggoner. Milfred was drafted into the Army in 1950 and stationed in Germany. Three years after being discharged as Sgt. First Class, he married Sue Cargal on June 20, 1953. They had two of their three children before he graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1957 with a degree in Geology. Milfred's 50-year oil and gas career encompassed five states and many companies. They met many friends everywhere and always stayed in touch with them. He retired officially in 1993, but did consulting work until 2006. His passions were his church, his family, traveling to visit friends/relatives and growing things. He had quite a green thumb for growing flowers and vegetables. He was a man of character and strong work ethic which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was a humble, soft spoken man, who loved to laugh and be around people. If you spent much time around Milfred, you heard about his daughter's Corgi named Lucky; they were huge pals. We know Lucky is so excited to be with him now. He is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter Pam Parkinson and her husband Tommy of Hobbs, NM; Phyllis Van Court and her husband Johnny of Christoval; son Paul Waggoner of Dallas; two grandsons Josh Birmingham of Dallas; and Bryan Birmingham and his wife Courtney of McKinney; and a brother Wendell Waggoner and his wife Charla of Denver, CO. He also has numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Zanda Angel of Pikesville, TN. Visitation will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home on Friday from 5:30pm to 8:00 pm and the service will be held at Southgate Church of Christ on Saturday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Paul Shero. Memorials can be made to Southgate Christian Academy.
