Ramona C. Valdez was born July 18, 1929 in Crystal City, Texas to Francisco and Herarda Castañeda. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jose C. Valdez; three sons, twins Jose and Ramon Valdez, and Ruben Valdez; her daughter, Alice Valdez Martinez; and her grandson, Jose Luis Pantoja. With the great promise and hope of seeing her again one day, she leaves behind her daughters and son, Carolina Gutierrez, Elida Ramirez, Elizabeth Valdez, Jose Valdez, Jr., Delma Rubio, Lydia Gonzalez, and Josie Gonzalez; and 20 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters, Maria Gonzalez, Lupe Gonzalez, Celia Jurado, Janie Martinez, and Nelida Hill; and one brother, Jose Sepulveda. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent her life serving God and her family. On January 19, 2015, God decided to call her home so that she can begin to live eternally in wait of her Heavenly crown. She will be greatly missed. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on January 21, 2015 at Iglesia De Cristo, 1501 E. Cherry Lane. Her sons-in-law, Hector Ramirez and Salvador Gonzalez, will direct the service. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Funeral service is under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.
