Raymond Don Thomas, Jr. was born on January 27, 1963 in Haskell, TX and passed into a pain free Heaven on July 17, 2014 at his home in Loving County, TX at the age of "Forty-Eleven" (51). He leaves behind a large family to remember and carry on. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Mary Nell Thomas of Loving County; one daughter: Robyn and husband Shay Wood of Midland; one son: Marcus of Midland; father: Raymond Don Thomas, Sr. of Wink and mother: Margaret Rose Thomas of Wink: four brothers: Randy Thomas and wife Phyllis of Wink, Ronnie Thomas and children of Wink, Wayland Thomas and wife Kay and children of Lake Whitney, Gerald Thomas and children of Wink; one aunt: Joyce Weir of Dallas and several cousins. Raymond loved and was very proud of his brother's children and their children and enjoyed spending time with them, especially at Christmas when he could buy presents. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: M.A "Tom" Thomas and Ozella Thomas and maternal grandparents: Herman and Philomena Friske. Raymond started school in Rule, TX then the family moved to West Texas where he graduated from Wink High School. He worked as hard as he played. Some of the places he worked were: Howard's Texaco, Burn's Electric, Brown Electric, his own Del Star Electric and was working for TESSCO until his health prevented him from continuing. He made lifelong friends along the way and to name a few would not do justice to the rest. He considered ya'll his extended family. He had a full and adventurous life including race cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed NASCAR, pool, shuffleboard, gambling, Crown, gardening and Marlboro Lights, but his true passions were hunting and fishing. Above everything else, he loved his family, most of all his two children of whom he was extraordinarily proud. Raymond fought a hard, seven year battle with cancer and with the help of Home Hospice was much relieved the last few days. When his body failed, he decided he would beat his cancer and it would damn well die with him. Raymond said he might not be here to enjoy it but he would win. We invite you to join us at the victory celebration of Raymond's life on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the house in Loving County. We will begin at 10:00 am and lunch will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to: M.D. Anderson Cancer Research at P.O. Box 4464 Houston, TX 77210-4464, The Wounded Warrior Foundation at 4899 Belfort Rd. Ste. 300 Jacksonville, FL 32256, Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry at FHFH P.O. Box 323 Williamsport, MD 21795-0323 or any charity or cause you support.
