C. Jim Rey

C. Jim Rey passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013. Jim was born in Ft. Stockton on Dec. 30, 1946. Jim moved to Midland with his parents when he was 5 years old. He attended Midland High School but enlisted in the U. S. Navy when he turned 17 where he completed his high school. He studied and worked on computers while he served on the USS Ranger for 4 1/2 years from 1964 to 1968. When he was discharged, Jim moved to Dallas where he lived until his death. Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Irma Billalba. Jim is survived by his loving parents, C.G. Rey and Rosa Rey; daughter, Bonni Pelton and partner, Veronica Escobar; grandson, Mario Pelton-Escobar; two brothers, Danny Rey and wife, Cecilia of Albuquerque, NM; Alfonso Rey of Austin, TX; three sisters, Margie Rodriguez of Midland; Celia Sosa and husband, Luis of Midland and Melinda Hernandez and husband, George of Grand Prairie, TX. Funeral arrangements are with Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson, TX. A Rosary will be held on Sunday at 7p.m. at the funeral home. A Holy Mass will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 12p.m. on Monday and Internment will follow at the DFW Veterans Cemetery in Grand Prairie at 2:30p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Assc.
