George Travis Walker

George was born in Ada, Oklahoma, on September 5, 1924, to Charles Edward Newton Walker and Rosa "Etta" Ridge Walker. George was married to Geneva Joyce Balthrop Walker on December 23, 1950, their marriage lasting 61 years and had two daughters, Linda and Joyce. George graduated from Byng High School in Ada, Oklahoma, and attended Oklahoma A & M, completing his Bachelors' of Science degree from East Central State College in Ada. After college he began working at Noble Oil for 3 years, then during WW" worked at a government owned oil refinery in Wichita Falls, Texas, operated by Halliburton. He returned to Noble Oil, which became Carter Oil then Humble Oil, later becoming Exxon. His career began working closely with Engineering, moved to Production, and then he worked in Accounting for Exxon lasting 33 years, retiring in 1985. George enjoyed volunteer work in many capacities with his wife, Geneva at First Baptist Church, also enjoyed traveling with Geneva, visiting his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and was an avid reader. George is preceded in death by his wife, Geneva; his parents; five sisters and three brothers. George is survived by daughters, Linda Pait and husband, David of Bedford, Texas; Joyce Nicholas and husband, Kurt of Doha, Qatar; granddaughters, Whitney Bennett and husband, Daniel of Washington, Illnois; Amanda Eisenhour, and husband Troy of Haslet, Texas, and Grace Brown and husband Lee of North Richland Hills, Texas; Eight great-grandchildren, Hannah Bennett, Austin Bennett, Noah Bennett, Ellie Bennett, Dylan Eisenhour, Derek Eisenhour, Darcy Brown, Maverick Brown; and sister in-law Wanda Snyder of Ada, Oklhahoma; and other family and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Ellis Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014, and funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Midland, Texas, with Associate Pastor David Johnson officiating.
