Joseph Wayne Word

Joseph Wayne Word of Midland passed away on Thursday November 22, 2012. He was born in Kingsville, Texas on August 26, 1926 to Hodges and Ada New Word. Wayne was in the US Army Airforce from 1944 until 1948. He was stationed in Guam. On his return to the States he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated in 1951. He moved to Midland, Texas in 1953. He was an Independent Petroleum Geologist. He served as a Scout Master for the Buffalo Trail Council in Midland for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Wayne is survived by his wife Elizabeth, his step-children Kyle Vernon and wife Teri of Crosbyton, and Virginia Monaldi and husband Chris of Fort Collins, CO., his sister, Joyce Stewart of Friendswood, Texas and his grandchildren, Robert and Kathryn Vernon and Elizabeth and Emily Monaldi. Services were held on Monday November 26, 2012 in Kingsville, Texas. Interment was at Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville.
