Lola Faye Blanscett

Lola Faye Blanscett, of Midland, Texas, passed from this life onto her heavenly home on July 5, 2014. She was 81 years old. Lola was last residing at Permian Regional Care Center in Andrews, Texas. The family was comforted in knowing that the staff at PRCC took such great care and loved Lola, and as some called her, "Momma." On November 7, 1932, Mr. and Mrs. James and Gracie Rohus welcomed their sweet Lola into the world, in the small town of Westbrook, Texas. She was her parent's fourth born child out of nine children. Lola attended school in Stanton, Texas, as well as in Midland, Texas, where she graduated from Midland High School. While in school, she played basketball. Lola made the A-team and was lettered in basketball, as well as one year her team advanced to the state playoffs. She had very fond memories of that time. When Lola was a very young girl, she met a sweet boy named Billy Gene Blanscett. When she was only 6 years old, that same boy told Lola that he was going to marry her someday. As time would tell, on August 5, 1950, that is exactly what happened with Lola getting married to Bill Blanscett. They were blessed to have been married for 49 years before he went on to his Heavenly home. In that time, they had four children. Lola was a loving wife and mother who was very devoted to her family. Though she was a mother of four children, she was also a loving mother to many others. She worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 25 years. Lola was one of the founding members of the First United Pentecostal Church in Midland, Texas. She taught Sunday school, home Bible studies, and was a member of the ladies auxiliary, where she helped make countless peanut brittle candy for church fundraisers. Lola had a compassionate heart and enjoyed helping others in any way she could, whether it was by a kind word or providing any assistance needed. Lola loved God with all her heart and He was the center of her life. Lola was a true Christian lady that kept the faith up until she left this world. Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Blanscett; parents, James and Gracie Rohus; two brothers and five sisters; a granddaughter, Kristi Graham; and great granddaughter, Brianna Graham. Lola is survived by four children, Roy Blanscett and wife Brenda, Ernest Blanscett and wife Dulana, Mary Copeland and husband Clay, and Judy Bush; as well as four grandchildren, Chrystal Enriquez and husband Andrew, Elizabeth Anglin and husband Chris, Colt Bush, Johnthan Edwards and wife Amber; and two great grandchildren, Ross Graham and Ava Edwards. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at The Pentecostals, 5110 W. Illinois Ave. Midland, Texas, 79703. Online condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com.
