Perfecto Q. Rivas

Perfecto Q. Rivas, known to many as "Pepe", died in his home in Pecos, TX on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the age of 91 with his family by his side. Pepe was born April 21, 1921 to Ruperto and Victoria Rivas in Del Rio, TX. He was the youngest and last living sibling of 13. He is preceded in death most recently by his step-daughter, Martha Griffin, who passed in August 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 yrs, Maria Rivas of Pecos, TX; one son, Ernest Rivas of Monahans, TX; daughter, Celina Rodriguez of Odessa, TX; daughter, Lori Diaz of Midland, TX; step-daughter, Guadalupe Armendariz of Odessa, TX; and step-daughter, Olivia Ramos of Pecos, TX; and 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who loved and cherished him dearly. Pepe was an active member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church. He served on De Colores Cursillo, and El Santo Nombre. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his return to the states he was a truck driver and he enjoyed telling about his adventures and travels. Pepe worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years where he retired at the age of 65. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and those that knew him. A rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30 PM at Pecos Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, March 7, 2013 with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pecos Funeral Home in Pecos, TX.
