William Probandt

Bill Probandt passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014, following a lengthy illness. He was born on February 22, 1929, in San Angelo, TX. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He received his bachelor's degree in Geology from UT at Austin; & master's degree in Geology from Texas Tech at Lubbock. After working as a geologist for Anderson-Prichard he struck out on his own finding oil & gas in West Texas & New Mexico. Two of his passions were music & animals; he was involved in many philanthropic causes, including The University of TX Performing Arts Center, & the Midland SPCA, which was recently taken over by Grand Companions Midland. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jeanette; & two children Teresa Bowman of Ft. Worth & Jeff Probandt of Dallas; & grandson Joshua Bailey of Ft. Worth; & pets Shadow & Button. There will be no memorial service & the family requests memorials be directed to Grand Companions Midland Fund, P.O. Box 4371, Midland, TX 79704 to continue helping Midland's abandoned & abused animals. The family greatly appreciates all the calls & visits with Bill over the past difficult years of his life.
