Agnes Elizabeth Anguish passed away July 23, 2014, following a brief illness. She was born November 10, 1928 in New Braunfels to Karl and Thekla Amelung and raised in San Antonio. Even though known to all as Aggie, her blood was true burnt orange as a 1950 graduate of UT. When she wasn't busy traveling the world, Aggie could always be found at a bridge table where she was not only a much sought-after playing partner, but achieved the level of Gold Life Master. She also was an avid tennis player who, "could hit a mean ball," a talent perfected in high school when she won state in women's doubles. In addition to the Longhorns, Aggie cheered for the Spurs and Astros and her appreciation of sports extended into functioning as the office "bookie" during her years of employment with Blanks Energy. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, working puzzles and, most of all, spending time with family and an abundance of friends who will greatly miss her wit and playful sense of nature. She is survived by son Steve and wife Noy Anguish; daughters Ellen Anguish, Nancy Lynn Anguish, and Margaret and husband Robert Cobb; grandchildren Sam, Gibson, and Rachel Cobb; and brother Billy Amelung. Many thanks to Dr. David Watkins and the staff at Allison Cancer Center, Dr. Gregory Bartha and the support group with Hospice of Midland, and the nurses and aides of Midland Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit for all their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25th at First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Allison Bridge Center (913 West Wadley Avenue, 79705), Hospice of Midland (911 West Texas Avenue, 79701), First Presbyterian Church Deacon's Fund (800 West Texas Avenue, 79701), Aggie's Angels, c/o Midland Memorial Foundation (400 Rosalind Redfern Grover Parkway, 79701) or the charity of your choice.
