Alvin D Hammon, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Alvin was born September 21, 1938, to the late John and Bonnie Hammon in Healdton, Oklahoma. He was raised and educated in Kermit and the West Texas area. Alvin met and later married Charlotte Ann Wingfield on August 28, 1959, in Kermit, Texas. He attended Texas Tech University for over three years. Alvin worked for Texaco as a field superintendent, retiring after 32 years of service. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. They were the light of his life, even though he loved to harass them from time to time. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving family; wife, Charlotte Hammon of Midland; two sons, Gregg Hammon and wife Michelle of Midland, and Michael Hammon of Austin, Texas; one brother, Melvin Hammon of Pampa, Texas; one sister, Louise Holladay of Tijeras, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Alexandra Hammon of Austin, Texas, and Cordell Hammon of Midland; and by two nephews and six nieces. Viewing will be Monday, July 7, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home. Funeral service is set for Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Funeral service is under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.
