Carolyn Parks King was born January 31, 1954, in Denver, Colorado, to George D and Hazel Parks Sr. Carolyn passed away peacefully Thursday, August 28, 2014, with her husband by her side in Memphis, Tennessee. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband Leslie King of 29 years; two daughters, Courtney Gipson Akinyanjuola of Midland and Nicole King of Arkansas; five grandchildren, Sheldon, Glenn, Isis, Journee, and Cadence; three step-children, Markeesha King, Elesceeya Pinkerton, and Tiffani Reyes; five step-grandchildren: Jorrdyn Dunn, Jaydyn King, Gavin Pinkerton, Ryatt Reyes, and Jack Reyes; her mother, Hazel Parks; four brothers, George D. Parks Jr. (Janice) of Odessa, Texas, Regenal L. Parks of Midland, Eric T. Parks (Betty) of Dallas, and Gregory W. Parks (Amy) of Midland. She is preceded in death by her father, George D. Parks, Sr.; and her sister, Wilma Parks. Carolyn was raised in Midland, Texas, and attended De Zavala Elementary and later graduated from Midland High School. She spent her entire career in the Communication Industry for Southwestern Bell and later with Time Warner and Comcast. She was an avid bowler and received countless awards for her Professional Career and Hobbies. She found peace in her love of artwork. She was a talented artist and loved to draw. Her strength, wisdom, and overwhelming character were traits that were admired by those who loved and new her well. Her unconditional love and care for her family will never be forgotten. Viewing will be Friday, September 5, 2014, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Homegoing Services will be Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Alexander's Temple. Burial in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Services under the direction of Thomas Funeral Home.
