Don Green was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 2, 1950, to Billy Don and Edna (Fuffy) Green before the family moved to Midland Texas. Educated in Midland public schools he graduated in the Midland High Class of 1969 where he was letterman in Football. Don attended Odessa College and Texas Tech University. He loved everything sports, a tribute to his father who shared every sport with Don. He wore his Dad's football letter jacket until receiving his own. There were many stories shared by Don about his Dad playing semi-pro football in Ft. Worth, earning his SCUBA license under Bill's tutelage. He could play racquetball, handball, and basketball, but above all, Don loved golf, quoting the yardage on every Hogan Golf Park hole. He was a YMCA basketball coach, led the church softball team for many years, and learned soccer rules to coach youth Soccer because they needed the help. Don enjoyed shooting his pistols at Midland Shooters Association dragging most of his friends there just to get more shooting time and would sharpen the knives of all of his friends. A long time and active member of St. Paul UMC in Midland he was an usher loved by the kids of the church because he always had candy in his pockets for them. They all sat in the center aisle knowing they would get candy. He loved children no matter their age. He had many church committee positions and was an organizer of the Grace Works Sunday School class; happiest when he was serving the church and was a member of Methodist Men. He was a charter member of the Midland Day Break Rotary Club serving three times as the President and wrote the weekly newsletter filled with little known facts, jokes he researched, and stories of Rotarian Service. He was a two time Paul Harris Fellow. An avid reader of every genre, he loved Barbara Streisand, Ferranti and Teischer, and old Midland "FM" Station music, but especially music of the forties. Don passed from this life on Sunday July 20, 2014, and as a "leftie" he is now sitting on the "left" side of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven just as he always said he would. He is survived by his son, Michael Don; and wife, Wanda Green; and granddaughter, Rebekah Grace Green all of Arlington, Texas; his parents, Billy Don and Fuffy Green of Midland; sisters, Jan Green, Gail and Tim Riggan; nephew, Casey Riggan and wife Amanda, Tyler and Grayson; niece, Fuffy Nicole and Tony Martinez, Brycen all of Midland, Texas; best friends, Doug and Ann Lunsford of Midland; God children, Lance Lunsford of Austin, Donnie Lunsford of Hondo, and Lori Woods of Greenville, South Carolina.
