Donald LeRoy Orr, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at First Baptist Church of Burleson. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery in Midland. Donald attended Ouachita Baptist University, and then volunteered for the United States Army Air Corps and became a fighter pilot in World War II. He served his country in the China Burma India Theatre, flying 203 missions. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 Oak-Leaf Clusters, Air Medal with 4 Oak-Leaf Clusters and 3 Battle Stars. He went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he met the love of his life, Violet Rogers, and married. They decided to take their love of music to the mission field as the first music missionaries ever appointed by the International Mission Board and taught at the Seminario Bautista Teologico de Cali, Colombia for 34 years. Retiring in 1984, he continued serving and praising his Lord as a volunteer with the Texas Baptist Men builders and with the Singing Men of Texas until age 89. He was very active at First Baptist Church of Burleson, singing in choir and other ministries. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Violet Lee Rogers Orr.
