Donny Lee Roberts passed July 9, 2014 of natural causes. He was born October 20, 1975 to parents Jim Roberts and Patricia Avery Duke in Alpine, Texas. He grew up in Marathon, Texas, living on a ranch loving outdoors. Donny moved to Midland, Texas where he graduated from Midland High in 1994. He attended Midland College and Sul Ross State University. Donny is survived by his mother, Patricia Avery Duke of Midland, Texas; father, Jim Roberts and step-mother Stephanie Roberts of Marathon, Texas; his children, Timothy Don Roberts of Marathon, Texas, Bobbie Marie Roberts and Mary-Anna Elizabeth Roberts, both of Alpine, Texas, Madison LaCrosse of Capitan, New Mexico and James Kennedy of Odessa, Texas; Godparents, Dale and Robbie Burns of Alpine, Texas; brothers: John Clinton Roberts of Marathon, Texas and William Clayton Roberts of Midland, Texas; and by his cousin who he considered a brother, Bobby Duncan of Ruidoso, New Mexico. He is also survived by his nephew, Zane Roberts of Marathon, Texas; nieces, Angelina Hope Roberts of Ballinger, Texas and Aubrey Nicole Roberts of Cisco, Texas; and his grandparents, Durwood and La Verne Avery of Marathon, Texas; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. The most powerful cherishing memory of Donny is, when he saw a person in need, he would stop and help, even give "the shirt off his back." Donny loved operating heavy equipment and cooking for family and friends. He was last employed as a Chef at the Courtyard Kaua'i Coconut Beach Marriott Resort in Kauai. Donny's hobby was building unique tools with his own hand-made wooden handles. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Marathon Post Cemetery in Marathon, Texas. Lunch will be served immediately following the service at the Marathon Community Hall, located next to the Marathon Fire Station. Pallbearers for the service will be Mike Johnson, Ruben Ortega, John Skinner, Thomas Skinner, Misha Vogel, and Justin Avery. Graveside service is under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.
