Evelyn June Holcombe, 81, passed away on June 29, 2015 in Midland. June was born in Pampa, Texas on February 6, 1934 and spent her childhood years in Kellerville, Texas. In 1955, she married Billy C. Holcombe, her husband of 60 years. They moved to Midland in 1957 where they raised their family. June worked 35 years as the receptionist for Dr. Richard G. Klempnauer and Dr. Reed Collins before retiring. She enjoyed flowers, nature and traveling, especially her yearly trips to the Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her most treasured time was spent with her grandchildren and family. Mrs. Holcombe was preceded in death by her beloved son, Stephen Todd Holcombe; her parents, Ernest Clifford and Mabel Simpson West; her brother, Ernest West; and her sister, Marjie Holland. June is survived by her husband, Billy C. Holcombe of Midland; her daughter, Tamara Webb and husband Bryan Webb of Midland; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Holcombe of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren, Tyler Webb and wife Vicky Bakhos Webb of Midland; Taylor Brignon and husband Andy Brignon of Katy, Texas; Emily Holcombe Bassil and husband Chris Bassil of Denver, Colorado; and Kelsey Holcombe Hurst and husband Mark Hurst of Houston, Texas; and by her great grandchildren, Charli Brignon, Houston Brignon, and Stella Bassil. Survivors also include June's sister, Zelda McClellan of McLean, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. June was quite unassuming and was affectionately known as Mee Mee to her loved ones. Mee Mee loved nature and the beauty that it revealed to her heart. The beauty of a simple butterfly or the serenity of a morning sunrise in Santa Fe provided her happiness. She had love and patience for those she held close to her heart; most importantly, her family and the many people whom she helped each day at the doctor's office. June's love was kind. She lived a life of love, marked by kindness, tenderness, sympathy and consideration for others. Simply, she saw the need to be tender and she saw the tenderness in all that surrounded her. Through nature, God is able to teach us, and speak to us and provide for us. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2015, Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. June's family wishes to thank Manor Park Younger Center and Home Hospice, both of Midland. Memorials may be made to Home Hospice, 200 W Illinois, Ste 190, Midland, TX 79701 and/or the Alzheimer's Association, 4400 N Big Spring St #32 Midland, TX 79705.
